The secret to effectively heating with wood

Proper fuel and proper stove size are critical to heating with wood a wood-burning stove.  Only burn properly seasoned cord wood and don’t use a stove larger than you need for your home.  Burning a strong hot fire in our stoves will result in a cleaner burning product which translates to more heat in your home.  When wood stoves burn clean, they are converting more wood into heat.  When wet wood is burned, or an undersized fire is built in a small stove, the wood can’t be fully combusted, and a lot of smoke is produced.  That smoke is lost fuel that could have been burned and converted into heat for your home.
